The Clerk of Court is not permitted to, and does not, render "Title Opinions." In Louisiana, only an attorney can render a "Title Opinion."  Neither does the Clerk's Office provide legal advice; however, the deputy clerks of our various departments are happy to assist our customers in researching those public records in the care of the Clerk of Court.

There is no charge for assistance by our staff.  However, there is a charge of $1.00 per page for copies made by our Copy Room.

For those customers who may need large volumes of copies, the Clerk provides a "customer" copier in the Conveyance Section area.  Copies made on the public copier cost 50¢ a page and must be made by using a prepaid debit card.  The reusable cards cost $3.00 each and may be purchased at the Cashier.  A minimum of $25.00 worth of copies (50 copies) must be purchased with the card.  

As a courtesy to the attorneys and abstractors who frequent the office in the normal course of their business, the Clerk has also set aside a separate area commonly referred to as "The Abstractors Section." This area has work tables and chairs for the use of these professionals so they may sit down and examine their research, abstracts, plats, etc. The Clerk also provides, as a courtesy, a telephone line for anyone working in this area of the Clerk of Court’s office.
