Each of the Louisiana
parish Clerks of Court is elected for a four-year term. The
Clerk of the District Court is a Constitutional office of the State
of Louisiana, being created most recently in Article 5, Section 28
of the Louisiana Constitution of 1974.
No tax money is
provided for the operation of the office except for the purchase of
some office equipment through a small annual appropriation from the
Parish Council.
All salaries and operating expenses of the
office are paid out of the fees, as fixed by statute, collected for
recordings, certified and conformed copies, and services rendered in
connection with civil, probate, and criminal
proceedings. |
